The Glowing Key
Once upon a time there was a sheep thief who was in a remote place with a fat leg of mutton (others say it was a breast) in the hand he had stolen and now intended to to consume in peace and leisure. But the moon shone bright and clear; for there was no cloud in the sky. Then the thief spoke to the moon following shameful words, while at the same time holding the knife with a piece of meat on the tip:
»Fat is here,
Come to me,
Get the piece to do! "
Then a voice from heaven answered him:
“Beware, thief!
Key, you, fly,
Until you find the cheek!«
Suddenly a glowing key fell from the sky, straight on the thief's cheek and branded it. The scar of the But he wore the key brand as long as he lived.
